Renovated Dorset bungalow with new cedar cladding, windows and block-paved driveway by FR Carpentry

Home Renovations

Whether it's a tired period property or a whole-house refresh, we renovate homes with care, attention to detail and minimal disruption, modernising how a home works while respecting its character.

Renovations are where our breadth really shows. A full project might touch everything: structural alterations, rewiring and replumbing, new kitchens and bathrooms, flooring, plastering, joinery and decoration. We coordinate every trade so you deal with one team, not ten.

We're equally at home modernising a 1930s bungalow and sensitively updating an older, period property. The goal is always the same: a home that's warmer, brighter and better to live in, finished to a standard you can feel.

Living through a renovation can be stressful. We make it as painless as possible with clear programmes, regular updates, a tidy site and honest advice about where your budget is best spent.

Renovations questions

What steps are involved in a home renovation?+

We start with a survey and design, agree a scope and programme, then work through structure, first-fix services, plastering, second-fix, kitchens and bathrooms, and finally decoration and snagging.

How do you estimate the cost of a home renovation?+

We assess the property, talk through your priorities and break the work down room by room, so you get a clear, itemised quote rather than a vague headline figure.

Can I live in the house during a renovation?+

Often yes, in phases. For larger whole-house projects it can be quicker and less stressful to move out for part of the work. We'll advise honestly on the best approach.

Do you manage all the trades?+

Yes. Electricians, plumbers, plasterers and decorators are all coordinated by us, so you have a single point of contact throughout.

Finn and his team have just completed our kitchen extension which we are thrilled with. His dedication and attention to detail was superb, he was always available to update us on the work progress and discuss other options when there were small changes to the project. Finn was great to work with.
Ian KingKitchen Extension
I can only say that they were brilliant. They were prompt, efficient, coordinated and a very nice team of people. Finn has a rare mix of people skills, carpentry skills and management skills, and I plan to use FR Carpentry for our first-floor extension. Thoroughly recommend them. First class.
